As mentioned in the title, I’ve gone on an in-depth exploration of “Kaminoura 307” located in the Kaminoura district of Kumamoto City!

I’m excited to give you an all-around tour of the buzzworthy Kaminoura 307, a haven that’s been heating up the social media scene. If you’re a sauna lover who’s been curious about this spot or if it’s been on your radar, this is for you!

1. What is Kamino Ura 307?

Kamino Ura 307 is a reservation-only private sauna facility located along Kaminoura-dori in the central Kumamoto City.

The facility’s name cleverly plays on the Japanese words for numbers, where ‘3’ is ‘san’ and ‘7’ is ‘nana’, together sounding like ‘sauna’, thus ‘Kaminoura Sauna’ becomes ‘Kaminoura 307’.

For this visit, I went with some friends from university to see everything Kaminoura 307 offers, from the sauna and BBQ to an overnight stay. I’ll share that experience with you all!

2. What’s the facility like?

At Kaminoura 307, not only can you enjoy a private sauna, but there’s also a spacious balcony for barbecues and even accommodations for overnight stays!

The luxury of sleeping immediately after a sauna session is simply unparalleled 😆

Lately, it’s been a favorite among people in their 20s to 30s, with many couples booking for anniversaries.

For this visit, I took my juniors from the university to fully enjoy everything Kaminoura 307 offers, from the sauna and BBQ to an overnight stay. I’ll share that experience with you all!

3. Explanation of how to use the facility

No hassle at check-in! Straight to your room upon arrival!

We’ve arrived at Kaminoura 307. The 3rd and 4th floors of this building are where the magic happens.

As we ascended the stairs, this sign promises a private and exciting experience ahead…

But upon reaching the top…

Wait, there’s nobody here…

That’s right. Kaminoura 307 operates on a self-service basis, even for check-in! The entrance door is secured with a numeric lock. By entering the pre-informed passcode, the door opens up to welcome you.

And with that, check-in is complete. You’re free to enjoy the facility until the checkout time, and stepping out in between is totally fine.

Show up Empty-handed? No Problem with the Ample Amenities!

I stepped into the room and was immediately greeted by a large, clean double bed and the specially-designed sauna of Kaminoura 307 to the right!

I contained my excitement to check the bathing area first. Not only was there a shower, but also a full bathtub.

Further in, there was a toilet and washbasin, and the amenities were plentiful: bath towels, hand towels, toothbrushes, shower caps, body towels, and more – everything you’d need for an overnight stay was well-stocked.

③ What’s Outside the Room…

Venturing outside, I found an incredibly spacious balcony!

Equipped with BBQ grills, tables, chairs, and even a large parasol, I thought, “This would be great for gathering with friends from day till night.”

And there was a cold water bath in the back.

I sneakily touched it to check the temperature…

Wow! 😮

It’s chilled to perfection by a cooler – definitely something to look forward to after the sauna!

From Wi-Fi to Water Dispenser: Comprehensive Facilities!

There’s Wi-Fi for those who need to work, and card games like UNO for some fun times with friends.

And don’t worry about staying hydrated; there’s a water dispenser by the entrance offering hot, room temperature, and cold water.

Don’t forget to hydrate before entering the sauna!

How’s the Bedding?

The facility can accommodate up to four guests. There is one double bed and two single air beds.

What struck me as interesting was the variety of pillows available, allowing everyone to find their perfect fit 😝

However, not all the pillows were lucky enough to find a sleeper…😢

The air beds were also outfitted with duvets, ensuring a high-quality stay even in a sauna facility.

The Long-awaited Sauna Experience!

Now, let’s talk about the star of the show: the sauna.

Just look at this sauna room…!

It’s incredibly clean and spacious!

The room seemed large enough to comfortably fit 6-7 people.

What’s impressive about this sauna room is that you can adjust the temperature via a panel, with a maximum setting of 110 degrees Celsius. You get to enjoy the sauna at your preferred temperature!

Packed with stones, the HARVIA (a Finnish brand) sauna stove promises an ideal löyly (sauna steam) experience that had us all salivating in anticipation, haha.

Well then…

Off to the sauna!

For this visit, we cranked it up to the maximum 110 degrees. It was so hot when we first stepped in that we couldn’t help but exclaim, but it became comfortably pleasant as we adjusted.

But when it was time for the löyly…

We nearly screamed—it was that scorching! 🥵

Enduring the heat with the utopia of relaxation in mind, we tried to stay calm. Thanks to the löyly, the humidity was high, and we began sweating profusely.

It seemed like they provided birch aromay for the löyly—the favourite aroma of sauna lovers.

They’ve put thought into the sauna stones as well; these stones are volcanic rocks from Mt. Aso.

There’s also a small window allowing us to indulge in the guilty pleasure of enjoying the sauna while overlooking the night cityscape.

Chatting and laughing with friends is truly the essence of a private sauna experience… We were thoroughly steamed for a full 10 minutes.

Time for the Chilled Plunge

After basking in Kumamoto’s bountiful warmth, it’s time to dive into the cold bath…

Maintained at a consistent 15 degrees Celsius by a chiller, the cold bath is filled with Kumamoto’s groundwater!

With the sauna booked just for us, I dared to do something that’s against the rules in a public sauna.. I jumped right in without rinsing off my sweat first!

With the privilege of privacy, even a shout feels permissible as you immerse yourself in the chilling embrace of the water against the night’s ambient temperature.

A Thoughtfully Crafted Outdoor Cooling Area

Finally, we proceed to the sublime space of ultimate relaxation.

We gratefully donned the provided sauna ponchos and headed to the outdoor cooling area on the fourth floor.

These ponchos, made from towel material, are superbly absorbent and perfect to slip on over a wet body—a must-have for private or outdoor saunas.

Infinity chairs are, of course, part of the experience.

Silently, with closed eyes, I took in the night view of the city…

……

…

Complete bliss.

I’m not sure what it is—

The humidity and temperature of the sauna room…

The perfect chill of the cold bath…

Or the ambient outdoor temperature…

Everything seems to click in harmony, allowing me to achieve a perfect state of relaxation from the very first cycle.

My head is spinning with delight.

Having a dedicated space on the fourth floor just for achieving this serene state is truly wonderful.

While listening to the hustle and bustle of the city below, time seems to slow down just for this spot.

Bathed in moonlight and the glow of city lights, there’s an indescribable sense of guilty pleasure.

Sauna is about repetition. Heat up, cool down, reset. Refreshing the body through this cycle generates vitality for the days ahead.

Sauna sessions also settle the mind. Taking deep, slow breaths helps to release anxiety and stress.

Ah, there’s nothing quite like the sauna… It’s invigorating!

Continuing through the second and third sets, I stumbled upon a 500-yen gacha. It dispenses a random selection from six different aromas—a lucky item might even pop out!

Enjoying these playful moments with friends is another luxury of having the place to ourselves.

As the self-proclaimed ‘Aufgussmeister Shige-chan,’ I led my juniors on a journey to total togetherness—always with care and never pushing beyond our limits.

Post-Sauna BBQ Time with Friends

What could be a better way to satisfy the post-sauna hunger than with a BBQ! And guess what? At Kaminoura 307, you’re allowed to bring your own food and drinks.

If you liked, you could step out to enjoy the various offerings around Kamitori and Shimotori streets within walking distance, but let’s be honest, sauna and friends call for a BBQ bash!

Stock up on meat at a nearby supermarket and gather around the provided BBQ grill for a feast with friends.

The facility includes a kitchenette, and upon request, they’ll prepare all the utensils, chopsticks, and dishes you’ll need. Just make sure to mention it when you book.

The BBQ space is on the spacious third-floor balcony, seemingly big enough for a party of over ten people. Just remember to handle fire with care and sort your trash responsibly, better yet, take it with you when you leave.

The popularity of the exceptional Kaminoura 307 is undisputed. Having the chance to speak with the owner, I got the inside scoop on future plans.
